The Silver Spoon was first published in Italy in 1950, and in English in 2005, bringing together a collection of some 2000 recipes gleaned from both restaurants and homes and becoming an all-time best seller.
In the intervening years other titles have been added to the list – the latest, Quick and Easy Italian Recipes.
A feast for the eyes as well as for the table it features over 100 recipes, some of them simple, others slightly more complex, that can be cooked in less than 30 minutes.
All of them look absolutely delicious; be they classics like Lasagne, Steak Tartare, Frittata and Zabaglione or more unusual ones like Hake in a green sauce or Conchiglie with mozzarella.

We particularly liked the really useful Cooking Time Index listing dishes in five minute timings.
The recipes are clear and simple and beautifully illustrated and we fully intend to cook and eat our way through the ones in this terrific book.
